She graduated from Skidmore College in 2016 and is now presenting her debut solo exhibition, "Have Our Hands Ever Left the Soil?" with Picture Theory. Lawton's artwork encourages us to explore our identities, reflecting on our childhoods and the significance of those around us. Community and connectedness echo throughout the works showcased.

Brooklyn Museum 200th birthday

The Brooklyn Museum celebrated its 200th birthday this past weekend. It reigned in the occasion with events ranging from artists' talks to art-making stations and live music. As usual, the tickets were gone within a few moments of their drop. I anxiously waited for the newsletter to announce their availability and succeeded in RSVPing for two. Mana Contemporary Open Studios

DESCRIPTION

Twice a year, Mana Contemporary opens its doors to welcome the public into its expansive labyrinth-esque space. Last week, over 100 artists opened their studios, combined with live performances, a fashion event, and a book panel. The building was as large as the event, and it was overwhelming. It would be impossible to comment on every studio and activity that took place, so I've selected a handful of artists to highlight. Below are just four artists who stood out to me throughout the day.
